Seattle-Pécs Sister City Association

Delegation from Pécs

During their stay in the United States they first visited Tucson, Arizona, another sister city of Pécs, and then spent two days in Seattle. After sightseeing downtown, they met the president of the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle. This lunch with Mr. Bill Stafford gave them the chance to exchange experiences of city management and to collect information on the possible expansion of trade relations between the two cities. A reception organized by the SPSCA was held in their  honor  in the meeting room of the Honorary Consulate. There were about 20 guests. Invited participants were mostly the members of the Hungarian community of Washington and of the SPSCA, but the event was also graced by the presence of Mr. Bill Stafford and Deputy State Governor Brad Owen. Therefore, members of the delegation could not only meet Washington Hungarians, but political and commercial leaders of the area, too. The next day they were invited to the office of the mayor of Seattle, where the deputy mayor Derryl Smith welcomed them.

The delegation considered their Seattle visit very successful. The President of SPSCA, Ms. Clarissa Szabados-Mish, was invited to meet Pécs's mayor, Mr. Zsolt Páva, during her stay in Hungary in June.
